The Nervous System

Chiropractic is a science, art, and philosophy that studies the relationship between the nervous system and the health of the body. Many people consider chiropractors to be “back doctors” or “bone doctors,” but that is only partially true. Yes, we do work with the spine, but only as an avenue to reach the nervous system.

The nervous system is comprised of the brain, spinal cord, and over 45 miles of nerves that communicate to every single cell, organ, and tissue in the body. These vital structures are protected by the spinal column and can be negatively affected due to physical, chemical, and emotional stressors.

Chiropractors adjust the spine to allow the nervous system to be free from any interference to better adapt to its environment and function at the most optimal level. Rather than masking symptoms, a chiropractor's goal is to address the ROOT cause, which lies within the nervous system.

Once interference is removed, our amazing and intelligent bodies are able to express health rather than sickness. As a result, we are able to reach our full health potential!

Nervous System Scans

At Vibrant Health Family Chiropractic, we utilize the state of the art CLA INSiGHT nervous system scans.

CLA INSiGHT is a computerized, non-invasive, painless test that allows us to get a baseline of how your body is reacting to the stressors of daily life- physical, chemical, and emotional. It measures how your nerves communicate with your muscles, how your nerves communicate with your organs, and how your nervous system adapts to stress.

These scans allow us to accurately detect dysfunction in your nervous system beyond what you may be feeling or experiencing symptomatically.

The INSiGHT scans are made up of the three tests: Heart Rate Variability (HRV), Surface EMG, and Thermal — which work together to tell us how stress is impacting your overall health and well-being.

  • Heart Rate Variability: Measures how your body is adapting to stress

  • Surface EMG: Detects how nerves are communicating with muscles

  • Thermal: Shows how the nerves are communicating with organs

Below are examples of what scans can potentially look like:

Adjustments

The adjustment is the most important service we provide & how we directly influence and make changes to the nervous system.

Every adjustment builds on the one before, creating momentum, which is why repetition and consistency are important in order to restore nervous system balance, reduce chronic stress responses, and rebuild healthy patterns. With time, the body begins to heal and return to a state of ease.

Since our practice takes care of primarily children, you might be wondering what an adjustment looks like for them. Unlike an adult adjustment, there is rarely any twisting, rotating, or popping, ensuring that each adjustment is not only gentle and safe, but effective. In babies, only fingertip pressure is required to make a big impact on their health! Oftentimes, little ones are so comfortable getting adjusted, they fall asleep, stay asleep, or even drool because of how relaxed they are.

We have many different techniques we are trained and specialized in. You will find that each adjustment will be a combination of multiple different techniques, based on how your body responds. Some techniques utilized include Diversified, Thompson Drop, Activator, Logan, Craniosacral therapy, Dynamic Body Balancing, and Webster.
